Bye Bye Birdie takes us to Sweet Apple, Ohio, in 1957, where recently drafted teen heartthrob, Conrad Birdie, has come to give “One Last Kiss” to Kim MacAfee, a member of his fan club before he leaves for the Army. This high energy show will get your feet tapping along as you “Put on a Happy Face.” You’ll leave the performance thinking about “One Last Kiss” for “One Boy;” those crazy “Kids” who have “A Lot of Livin’ to do!” and Albert singing about the lovely “Rosie” who stole his heart.
You can follow our show on Twitter at @MPSTheater. We hope to see you at the show!

Tragedy in Florida
As you may know, students across the country are rising up against gun violence in the aftermath of the Florida shooting. High School Superintendents, in particular, are concerned about two major protests scheduled for March: the National School Walkout on March 14th and the March for Our Lives on March 24th. While our First Amendment affords us, and our students, the freedom of speech and the right to peaceably assemble, there are grave concerns about the publicity surrounding these protests and having students assemble in outside open spaces while all school districts are working to harden security within school buildings. I am not expecting a student walkout in Little Silver. I would ask that if your children (particularly middle school students) are talking about this issue, please support us by conveying that a productive conversation could take place within school walls, and protesting in open spaces for all to observe is counterproductive as we work to keep our children safe.
Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age
On Tuesday, April 10th, the Little Silver PTO will be hosting an airing of “Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age” in the RBR Auditorium at 7:00 PM. Screenagers dives deep into how technology impacts the development of children and addresses the challenges of parenting in the digital world where parents must compete with video games, texting addiction, and social media. A panel discussion will follow the movie which will be moderated by Principal Eric Platt and Guidance Counselor Jennifer Peirson. |
