Little Silver Says Good-bye to a Special Lady!
The Little Silver School district has had the great fortune of having Mrs. Moira Largiader teach Social Studies at Markham Place for the past 26 years! Mrs. Largiader spent four years as an educator in NY before coming to Little Silver in 1992. While Mrs. Largiader prefers not to be in the Spotlight, as she embarks on retirement, we would be remiss not to acknowledge the numerous students whose lives she’s touched. For many students, history means a lot of reading and memorizing facts – but not in Mrs. Largiader’s classroom. History is influenced by the acts and decisions made by the men and women of the time. Students can best understand these influences when they put themselves in the place of those people. Mrs. Largiader modeled this philosophy annually as she organized and participated in the Civil War Reenactment. Mrs. Largiader made history come alive through her daily lessons, not just on Civil War Day. Mrs. Largiader has a passion for instruction. She is a perpetual learner and that excitement for learning is conveyed to her students every day. When we think about our favorite teachers, we are drawn to those teachers who activate curiosity about the subject they teach. While teaching content is important, Mrs. Largiader never lost sight of the fact that her primary job was to teach children. Her influence on children spans well beyond teaching history. She has been the ultimate model of treating others with kindness and respect. On behalf of the Board of Education, we wish Mrs. Largiader a long, healthy retirement filled with many new adventures!
